Hello, and welcome to your DREAM BIG Festival!
With an eye on our past – 24 years of remarkable arts engagement for children and families – and our hearts tuned to the future, we have curated our 2012 Festival upon our programming of the last several years, in which themes of growth, change, and exploration have played a part.
This is our year to DREAM BIG along with the thousands of children who will visit us in June. We are in a time of change and reinvention as a city and as a province, and it’s exciting to be part of it all. Let’s celebrate our young dreamers, and help them put their big dreams into action.
We will present 47 ticketed performances, five Smile Sponsor shows at the RUH Pediatric Unit, and a whopping 180+ drop-in activities on the festival site, all in four days. We’re also celebrating our creative community partnerships, like the "NEST” project with teacher and Visual Artist-in-Residence Monique Martin. The Evan Hardy Collegiate Media School will be “zooming in” with us on-site. And Children’s Discovery Museum on the Saskatchewan will be back with another unique interactive installation.
The Festival is also the presenting partner for a number of in-school workshops with Kaha:wi Dance Theatre. And we’re totally tickled to continue the Gravity Ambassador Circus Arts residency with Flyin’ Bob Palmer and James O’Shea, aka The Chairmen. They are already working with two more Saskatoon schools; watch for students from Ecole Henry Kelsey and North Park Wilson Fine Arts School as they roam our Festival site with their new skills. All together, the Festival will be the catalyst for over 300 dynamic, engaging arts experiences for children and youth in Saskatoon and area!
